Herbivores are the vegetarians among the mammals. The photographer should always look to find something special in a scene without venturing to near to the subject. Better still if the animals you are photographing are totally oblivious of the photographer trying to take a photo.
Wanting to take a photo can unexpectedly become dangerous when your car almost gets “sandwiched” between elephants in front of and behind your car. After this picture we were able to back up by about 60 m and then the animal lost interest.
I cropped out the car’s wiper blades and bonnet in the elephant picture in post processing.
